During the past summer I collected a few Mbuna groups with the intent to breed them. I purchasad the Cichlids below as fry from Derek at Fins of Africa. He has a nice selection of F1 stock avalible for sale. And is a Good Guy to deal with.
These are my Project species:
Cynotilapia sp. Zebra Hara Galireya Reef
Metriclima Hajomaylandi
Pseudotropheus Elongatus Bee Chirwa
All Groups Above are Reaching Maturity and Begining to Show Signs of Spawning.
Synodontis Petricola
This is my First Attempt at Breeding Syno's. I Have Built Up a Collection 16 Strong of these Amazing Little Cats from a few Different Sources. I have just Recenly Decided to Dedicate a little More Time Promoting Spawning of these guys. I have Completly Changed there Tank Surroundings and added a few Caves that I Made.
Here is what I Used to Make Some Caves Suitalble for Breeding Petricola.

Glass Bowl
Clay Pot
Marbles

I Drilled a Hole in the side of
Clay Pot with a Carbide tip
Hole Saw.
Then I filled the bowl with marbles and put the clay pot on top. The marbles are to allow the eggs to fall between keeping them out of harms way. I have watched these cats breed many times only to watch the eggs be gobbled up by tank mates as fast as they are scattered.
Here is the Finished Product

I Had Intended to Make four to six of theses Caves to Fill a 65 Gallon but ran out of Marbles at two. I have put in an Order for more but I'm Waiting on Them to be Shipped. I could only Find Black Marbles on E-Bay. Because I only was Able to Make 2 Caves I have put in a few temperary ones untill the rest are complete. I also Plan to add a Few Anubias Lanceolata for some Colour.
Here is the Tank for now Until More Caves are Made

In this tank are 16 Synodontis Petricola, A Breeding Group of Copadichromis Trewavasae Mloto Likoma (1M/3F), 3 Ancistrus sp. and 1 Gyrinocheilus Aymonieri
New Tank set up After getting More Marbles
